Ninja Masterpiece!
Chinese Super Ninja Aka: WU DUN REN SHU (literally FIVE ELEMENT NINJA) From beginning to end, an engaging, taunt, and expertly choreographed martial arts movie. If they had only had a bigger buget!! DVD cult video wrote: "Two schools of martial arts, one led by the evil Mr. Kang (Chen Hei Psi); the other led by a respected Kung Fu master, Mr. Li, clash for superiority. After Mr. Li's good students (appropriately garbed in fancy white training uniforms) soundly make a mockery of Mr. Kang's bad students, Mr. Kang summons forth his Japanese Ninja fighter to trash his rival school." This movie was a great vehicle for the talents of Lo Meng (my favorite Venom) and Chen Tin Yee ('9 Demons' I believe). The Ninja leader, Chinua Munda, is played by the very talented Chan Wei Man, who typically plays an evil ganglord or Triad boss. Read up on Chan Wei Man, cause he's a real life hard case, ie 'bad-ass' (like Jimmy Wang Yu) who nobody would want to mess with! We also get an excellent performance from Yu Tai Ping , who plays the female Ninja, Sungi. What I'm saying is that we have great characterization and even a pinch of character development! All in all, this movie, despite some slight shortcomings, is a great genre film. Shaw studios actually did quite a few excellent 'Ninja' themed movies, and this is one of the best (as opposed to the rank shlock films like American Ninja). If you really enjoy a well crafted Kung fu chop socky, don't miss this flick. There are more detailed reviews out there, so I've kept it short. I give this an easy 8 out of 10 stars. Rent it tonight!! Matt
