One of the all-time great war films.
"Das Boot" is German for "The Boat". It tells the story of the harrowing mission of a German U-boat in the Battle of the Atlantic. Far from a prettied-up version of war, this film shows the grime, sweat, claustrophobia, and general fear that submarine crews had to endure. This is one of the all-time great war films and easily the best film dealing with submarines.
