Killer Army AKA Rebel Intruders I've seen a few ‘beaming’ reviews of this 1980 Venoms flick. And I’ll say up front that it is a very good V’s flick as well. Unfortunately, it would have been twice As good with a bigger budget: there was some piss poor editing throughout the film which served only to throw the viewer into a confused state. There are also about three awful dubbing ‘glitches’, where one will observe several seconds of ‘moving mouth no voice’ as well as vocal repetition! It's the worst editing in a Venoms movie which I've ever seen. Fortunately, they are all fast correcting. Is this the best print around?! Having pointed out the glaring disappointments, I’ll mention the good news: The movie stars all five Venoms (beware the habit for some companies to list all five regardless of whether you actually see them or not). Kwok Choi, Lo Meng, and Chiang Sheng play three Chinese civil war refugees on the run from corrupt government officials (played by Sun Chien, Lu Feng and ‘seventh venom’ Wang Li). All display characteristically excellent choreographed martial arts and acrobatics. I’m very fond of the Venoms, especially when Lo Meng is in the mix! He has some classic moments here that are worth seeing. Venom fights Venom in this movie, and there is a lot of combat. It just needed some more careful attention post-production. This was also the first movie I’ve seen where they didn’t wear top-knots: we get some awesome ‘Beatle-wig Kung Fu’ instead. This is worth seeing and/or owning. I give it 7 out of 10.
