two movies, one from 1960 and one from the '70s, that embody everything i always hated about cheapo '50s sci-fi. everything looks like tin cans and the oppressive talkiness isn't any better when its badly dubbed. in all seriousness, both movies put me to sleep every time i tried to watch them. "battle..." is another bastardization from roger corman, taking a 1960 ussr film and adding extra footage, including an infamous scene where a phallus monster attacks a vagina monster. during one of three attempts to watch that movie, i woke up in time to catch the scene. it put me right back to sleep. "star pilot" has a beautiful but offensively girlish daughter / girlfriend stereotype sidekick. the "barbarella" space suits with translucent cleavage have a little kitsch appeal, but not $4 worth.
