“battlefield earth” has a 4% tomatometer rating(of 99 reviews). “gigli” has 7% of 140. i figured that any movie so universally reviled would one day be a “plan 9...” type cult movie, long after i’m dead, so i thought i’d give “battlefield...” a chance now. it wasn’t any fun at all. it actually enraged me. it doesn’t even have the slick look of typical hollywood / bruckheimer dreck. in fact, it looks like crap. i know that any organization so holy that they would throw their enormous resources into suing even the smallest writers over slander, as the scientologists are known to do, to protect the sanctity of their image, could never do anything illegal. otherwise, i’d suspect that this movie was made as an intentional money loser, to launder money or whatever, a.l.a. “the producers.”
