as you could guess from the (english release) title, exploitation is rarely more blatant than in this brazillian “women in prison” movie, or less competent. the female prison guard uniform blouses don’t have any buttons, and no bras are worn, presumably in deference to the sweltering brazillian climate. its obvious the “actresses” playing groups of prisoners are told “fight now!” “frolic now!” “make love now!” and do so with disinterested, hilarious ineptitude. there is a comic, blonde, airhead nurse, reminiscent of a more demented carol channing, who tries to take the warden’s blood pressure with the cuff around her throat. though ridiculous, she shows the only acting skill in the whole movie. there are live, tame rats all over the place, probably lab rats dyed brown. the prison torture scenes are tame by today’s broadcast t.v. standards. the frequent sex scenes are not erotic, and are often acted out in a very indifferent way, but flirt with hardcore in places. one scene at the end dives right straight into xxx. all the best scenes are at the end, after the escape, when the tone gets a lot darker. there is a “last house on the left” sequence, that includes a castration. the current imdb comment indicates that the “scrap” is fed to the barking dog. if that’s on this tape, i missed it. most of the end takes place in a shanty house slum, where one escapee gratefully submits to sex slavery to have a shack to sleep in and hide from the law. it doesn’t stop her from “cheating” though. the police drive unmarked junkers and don’t have regular uniforms. the subtitles are in dutch, whose odd looking spelling always makes me chuckle. i watched part of this in the dying embers of saturday night and thought it was a hoot. i watched the whole movie in the cold ashes of sunday afternoon and thought it was pretty much a waste of time.
