TOO MUCH O'TOOLE
If there is an easier target for satire than the undeserving rich, I can't imagine what it is. (Well, maybe the artistically talentless rich.) This British flick from the early 70s trashes the upper classes and the Church of England with (mostly) wit and blasphemy . Peter O'Toole, campily clad in a long blonde wig, believes he is Jesus Christ. Bonkers he may be, but his relatives want to get him married off so that once a real heir is conceived they can put him (O'Toole) in the nut house and control the child heir. This goal is achieved, sort of; trouble is, when "cured" of his Jesus mania, he turns into Jack the Ripper!
Onscreen and spouting mostly nonsense virtually every second, O'Toole can become irritating in this too long (155 min.) flick. Arthur Lowe as the smart ass butler steals every scene he's in. Worth a watch, but not the masterpiece some claim.
