Very Strange & Comedic Horror Movie
How can anyone resist a movie that co-stars Phyllis Diller as Miss "Poopinplatz", who also runs a county morgue on the night shift with an adorable poodle that later becomes a killing machine? This one is 5 stars!!

highly recommended! “the boneyard” begins with what seems to be a brutal “texas chainsaw massacre” type “evil psycho in a decaying house” murder that turns out to be a sleepy, obese woman pounding an impossibly young cop down several flights of stairs with a pillow. she’s a psychic that helps the police locate the victims of serial killers, etc. deborah rose brings a surprising depth and sympathetic dignity to the role, which is completely inappropriate in the context of the relentless mega-cringe dialogue and the general no-dignity tone of the movie. “the boneyard” mutates constantly, passing through a fairly straight chinese demon mythology horror segment, to climax with full on “beetlejuice” comic horror fx. the poodle alone could cause someone to bruise a rib laughing too hard. i guess the aging ed nelson, phyllis diller, and norman fell were glad for the work, and as a way of thanking the viewer they dish out almost unbearable brain pain. diller plays “miss poopinplatz.” “platz” means “place” in german, so i guess “poopinplatz” is supposed to be joke german for “toilet.” she stains the brain with a burlesque character who is both noirishly hard and cynical but still obsessed with bureaucratic regulation. twelve years later, nelson is still at it in “runaway jury.” lets hope that st. peter didn’t see this movie before fell arrived at the pearly gates. this movie seems to be the career peak of the rest of the cast, except rose. for three or four, “the boneyard” is their only imdb credit. none are any worse than the usual low budget movie fodder, and some show talent. they simply hitched their wagon to the wrong “star.” no one involved seems to agree with anyone else, or even themselves, as to what this movie is supposed to be. the ensuing chaos never fails to entertain, but it sure does produce a mighty stench. the chemistry between rose and nelson is so bad their scenes actually hurt. i knew a bricklayer / musician with “anger issues” who accidentally hit his thumb, hard, with a brick hammer when splitting a brick in half. it pushed him over the edge, and he screamed and pounded his thumb twice more before he dropped to the ground in agony. watching the boneyard through to the end gave me insight into his state of mind. a first time psychotronic movie user might be scared straight by “the boneyard,” but for the grateful damned like myself, it was primo poopinplatz.
