<[:-\ another “the hidden” rip-off
the funny stuff wasn’t very funny, and it diluted the horror below effective concentration. this movie was aimed at the sort of youngsters that think blue pepsi is cool. the first scene has about twenty cops remarking how good a brain stew smells, finding out what it is, and then retching, spewing, and running like panicked sheep down stairs and out to the front of the apartment building. this and several other scenes make the “hard-boiled” tokyo police force look very sissified. director joji iida so greatly overestimates the impact of his horror scenes that he ruins the movie.
