<[:-\ creepy “cabaret” / “ilsa...” hybrid
this movie is too long, too “sophisticated,” and tries too hard to wring some sense out of its idealistic national socialist ho nonsense. i wish now i had just fast forwarded to the nekkid womens. restricting himself to “aryan” looking actresses, tinto brass doesn’t really keep up his usually high tna standards, though “margherita” (teresa ann savoy) and “herta wallenberg” (tina aumont) certainly fill the bill. an early scene, where the recruits are being selected through degrading tests, outdoes “ss hellcamp” at its own game. afterward, things get pretty sluggish and dumb. there’s a lot of stuff that i could have lived without seeing. the movie starts off with ingrid thulin, who plays “kitty kellerman” the mama-san, doing a decadent berlin he on one side, she on the other side routine that seems to go on forever. there’s a lot of nazi male nudity, including a jump-rope scene.
