AGATHA CHRISTIE MEETS JASON
THIS THING IS ODD. IT CAN BE ENJOYED BETWEEN ACTION SCENES FOR THE OLD WORLD ATMOSPHERE AND SCENERY. THE WHODUNNIT IS PRETTY LOW KEY AND UNBELIEVABLE: NO SANE, UNARMED MAN WOULD PERSIST IN PUTTING HIMSELF IN THE PATH OF THE VILLIAN, MUCH LESS BE AS CASUAL ABOUT IT AS THE PROTAGONIST IS. THE RELAXED TONE OF THE PICTURE MAKES THE SPORADIC VIOLENCE ALL THE MORE JARRING. ARGENTO FILMS KILLINGS AS IF TO MAKE THEM BEAUTIFUL, WHICH GREATLY ADDS TO THE QUEASINESS THEY INVOKE. IF YOU SUSPEND DISBELIEF AND APPROACH THIS FILM AS A TOTAL CONSUMER IT IS A REWARDING TRIP.

one of my favorite argento films
great film , i truly enjoyed this movie . this movie made me fall in love with argento films . a great murder mystery with some humor combined with a surprising end makes in my opinion deep red a must see film.

Snooze city
This has to rank as one of the top ten most boring movies of all time (along with Argento's other "masterpiece", Suspiria). Every scene drags on interminably. I'm sure the director was trying to create atmoshpere and suspense, but it ends up being nothing but atmosphere -- not enough to keep your interest for two hours. Maybe I'm just not an Argento fan.
