“arnold” has a strong cast and good production values, and will do almost anything to induce a cringe. as darren points out, the extended, demented, bollywood-like opening separates it from the large pack of ‘70s campy, wacky, black comedies, and the murder sequences are very inventive. stella stevens is pretty, and pretty scary, in the anna nicole smith role, marrying a dead [yes, dead] millionaire. i can’t remember any movie that worked the “control freak rules from the grave” schtick this thoroughly. jamie “klinger” farr creates another memorable, flamboyantly costumed character as the one-eyed, one-handed [sikh?] man-servant. roddy mcdowell fans won’t be disappointed. “arnold” also has elsa “bride of frankenstein” lanchester, victor “mad butcher” buono, farley granger, and several other cult favorites.
