Alexander Fu-Sheng & David Chiang
This 1977 movie features Alexander Fu-Sheng, who I only know from the excellent
Ten Tigers from Kwan Tung. Despite his cult status, this is hardly a memorable film.
This flick also features David Chiang; both he and Alex were big Shaw Bros. Stars.
David Chieng plays a (wealthy) golden-bow wielding Ming patriot who joins a trio of kung fu
experts (led by Fu Sheng) against the Mongols
(sound familiar?). This 'oft used theme really fell flat for me though - I was really disappointed!
Too much comedy and not even good comedy! There is fighting, but a lack of overall
Cohesion, despite the skills of the lead actors. I was confused as to who the film was even focusing
on. Fu Sheng and Chiang 'hold their own', they just don't hold the movie together. I consider this
to be one of the 'lessor' of the Chang Cheh
Films I've seen and that Chiang and Fu Sheng. The current edition out on the market claims it as
"featuring the Venoms" - forget it! It's a crock; the production values are so bad you won't recognize
the brief cameos they make, which are not interesting at all (pre-deadly Venoms). You'd find better
fare without looking too hard- Its too bad! Ah well ………
